# Quorum per perspective: show answers only once enough are in

:::info
This feature is available only to users with the "HR employee" access level.

:::

In a 360° feedback, a quorum holds back the answers of a perspective until enough of its feedback providers have completed. With a quorum of 3 for colleagues, nobody sees their answers before three of them are done, **not even HR or executive management**. That way no answer can be traced to the person who happened to finish first. Unless you set one, there is no quorum. You set it per perspective in the settings of the feedback process.

## What the quorum protects against

Without a quorum, every answer appears as soon as its participation is completed and the participation group is visible. If only one of four colleagues has completed, exactly one answer appears under "Colleagues". Anyone who knows who has finished, for example from the participant list or a notification, then knows who wrote it. Showing the perspective instead of the name next to the answer does not change that.

A quorum is most useful for small perspectives whose answers should stay anonymous, such as colleagues, or employees giving their supervisor feedback.

## Set a quorum

1. [Open the settings of the feedback process](/en/c/feedbacks/review-settings) and click "Edit" in the "Process & visibility" row.
2. In the "Participation groups and perspectives" card, under "Quorum per perspective", enter the minimum number of completed participations for each perspective you want to protect, for example 3 for "Colleagues".
3. Click "Save" at the bottom of the page.

 ![Participation groups and perspectives card with the Every participation group row and the quorum per perspective: 3 participations for colleagues, no quorum for customers](/attachments/feedbacks/ergebnis-quorum/quorum-festlegen.png)

There is a row for every feedback provider perspective, but not for the self-assessment. Whole numbers from 1 are allowed. If a field stays empty, that perspective has no quorum, and "No quorum" appears under its name.

:::warning
The quorum also applies to past editions. If you set it later, easyreview checks every participation group there as well. Where fewer of a feedback recipient's participations in the perspective are completed than the quorum requires, and not all of them, those answers disappear from the results. In ended editions you can [lift the quorum](#lift-the-quorum-after-the-edition-has-ended) for individual feedback recipients.

:::

## When the answers appear

The answers of a perspective appear as soon as at least as many of its participations are completed as the quorum requires. **Once all feedback providers of the perspective have completed, their answers appear even below the quorum.** With a quorum of 3 and only two customers, their answers are visible as soon as both have finished.

easyreview counts continuously. If a completed participation is [reopened](/en/c/feedbacks/reopen-participation) or deleted, the perspective can drop below its quorum again. Its answers are then hidden again until enough participations are completed.

It also works the other way round: [deleted participations](/en/c/feedbacks/remove-participant-360-feedback) no longer count. If you delete the open participations of a perspective, all remaining ones are completed. Their answers then appear, even if there are fewer than the quorum requires.

## Who the quorum applies to

The quorum applies to everyone who sees results: the feedback recipient, supervisors, moderators, HR and executive management. Neither the "Early insights" option nor access granted via "Share result with others" lifts it. It applies in the result view, in analyses and in exports.

Feedback providers always see their own participation, even while their perspective is below the quorum.

## What the result view shows

Every perspective with a quorum has a small tab on the right, just below the colored line of its headline among the participants, showing its status:

* **Quorum not reached yet**: a grey ring fills up toward the quorum, next to it for example "Quorum 2/3", meaning 2 of the 3 required participations are completed. The perspective has no row or column of its own in the questions, and the "Total" row doesn't include its answers yet.
* **Quorum reached**: a green check and for example "Quorum 3/3". The answers are visible.

Hover over the tab to see the explanation, for example "Answers appear once 3 participations are completed, 2 of 4 so far. Until then they are missing from the totals too." When the answers are visible, it says why: the quorum was reached, all participations are completed, or HR lifted the quorum. Perspectives without a quorum have no tab.

 ![Result view of Sabine Muster: under the colleagues headline the tab Quorum 2/3 with its explanation open, under customers the tab Quorum 2/2 with a check, below them a table without a row for colleagues](/attachments/feedbacks/ergebnis-quorum/hinweis-noch-nicht-sichtbar.png)

With "Without names" and "Without names, participants hidden" there is no headline per perspective. There only the perspectives held back appear above the questions, preceded by their name, for example "Colleagues · Quorum 2/3".

When the names of feedback providers are hidden in answers, easyreview also mixes the order of the answers, within each perspective for "Perspective instead of name". That way an answer can't be matched to a person by its position in the participant list either. For more, see [360° feedback: result view](/en/c/feedbacks/360-feedback-result-view).

## What the feedback recipient notices

Some feedback recipients open the participant list of their own participation group, for example supervisors who create participations for themselves. For a perspective with a quorum they don't see the status dots of individual feedback providers there. Next to the perspective they only see the progress, for example "2 of 4 completed" (see [List of participants](/en/c/feedbacks/participant-list)). The participations of this perspective are also missing for them under "Re-open participations".

The notification "Feedback completed" is never sent to the feedback recipient for participations in a perspective with a quorum, even if a rule says so. All notifications are described in [Which notifications does easyreview send?](/en/c/notifications/notification-types)

## Lift the quorum after the edition has ended

If a perspective hasn't reached its quorum by the end of the edition, its answers stay hidden. You can then lift the quorum for individual feedback recipients:

1. [Open the status page of the feedback process](/en/c/feedbacks/review-status-page) and select the ended edition.
2. In the feedback recipient's row, click the small arrow on the right.
3. Point to "Lift quorum" and click the perspective, for example "Colleagues (2 of 4 completed)".
4. easyreview asks for confirmation, for example "Lift the quorum for Colleagues?". Confirm with "Lift quorum".

 ![Participant list with the menu of Sabine Muster open, showing Lift quorum and the entry for the colleagues perspective with 2 of 4 completed](/attachments/feedbacks/ergebnis-quorum/quorum-aufheben-menue.png)

easyreview confirms with "The quorum for Colleagues has been lifted for Sabine Muster." From now on, everyone allowed to see the feedback recipient's results sees the completed participations of this perspective.

:::warning
Lifting the quorum cannot be undone. It only applies to this feedback recipient and this perspective. easyreview records who lifted the quorum.

:::

The "Lift quorum" entry only appears once the edition has ended, and only for feedback recipients with a perspective still below its quorum.

## Quorum and the minimum for every participation group

Above the quorum, the same card has the row "Every participation group". Its minimum counts all completed participations of a feedback recipient together, the self-assessment included. Below this number, their results are not visible. Once everyone has completed, the group is visible below it as well. The quorum additionally checks each perspective on its own.

An example with 5 participations for every participation group and a quorum of 3 for colleagues: the self-assessment, two customers and two of four colleagues have completed. With 5 completed participations the participation group is visible. The colleagues' answers stay hidden until a third colleague completes.
