Question title

You can set two different question titles:

  • Question title (Reviewee, eg employee): The title the feedback recipient (for example, the employee themselves) sees. Example: “Quick feedback: intranet”
  • Question title (Reviewer, eg supervisor): The title the feedback giver (for example, the supervisor) sees. Here you can use placeholders such as [Salutation] and [Last Name] so the title is automatically tailored to the respective feedback recipient.

Hint

In the “Hint” field you can enter explanatory text that appears below the question title. Use it to give participants extra information or instructions for answering.

Manage sub-questions (text fields)

Each sub-question has a label field (“Answer:”), a “Required field” checkbox, and buttons to add and remove.

  1. Enter the sub-question label in the “Answer:” field. The label is shown to participants next to the input field.
  2. Tick the “Required field” checkbox if the sub-question must be answered. You can decide for each sub-question individually whether it is required.
  3. Click the plus icon to insert another sub-question below the current row.
  4. Click the minus icon to remove a sub-question. The minus icon only appears once more than one sub-question exists.

Input type

The “Input type” dropdown controls whether participants see a single-line or a multi-line text field:

  • Single-line text field: Compact input area for short answers (default).
  • Multi-line text field: Larger input area for longer answers. This option adds two extra settings:
    • Rows: Number of visible rows (1 to 20, default: 5).
    • Width: Width of the text field (25%, 50%, 75%, or 100%, default: 100%).

Required field hint

As soon as at least one sub-question is marked as a required field, the “Required field hint” field appears. There you can adjust the text shown to participants when a required field is left blank. The default text is “This question requires an answer.”

Enable notes

The “Enable notes” checkbox lets participants leave a note in addition to their answer.

Visibility, layout & design settings

Under the expandable “Visibility, layout & design settings” section you control who sees the question and how it looks:

  • Perspectives: Choose which perspectives see the question. If you select no perspective, the question is visible to all perspectives.
  • User groups: Restrict visibility to specific user groups.
  • User fields: Restrict visibility to users with specific field values (only shown when matching user fields are configured).
  • Editions: Decide in which editions the question appears.

Below the tabs you find the layout options:

  • Hide title during participation hides the question title from participants and shows only the input fields.
  • Display without vertical padding reduces the vertical spacing to the previous question.

Finally, click “Save” to save the question.

How participants see it

While taking part in the feedback, participants see the question title, the optional hint, and the labeled input fields. If at least one sub-question is configured as a required field, a red asterisk appears next to the question title.

With the “Single-line text field” setting, the fields are laid out as a table: the label on the left, the input field on the right.

With the “Multi-line text field” setting, the fields are stacked, each with its label above the text field. Width and number of rows follow your configuration.

Evaluate results

In the results view, answers are shown per sub-question. Each sub-question appears with its label and the participants’ answers. You can expand and collapse the list of answers using the “Show answers” link.

For two-sided feedbacks, the answers from both perspectives (for example, feedback recipient and supervisor) are shown side by side.
